Michelangelo Home For Sale

July 30, 2015

Love Italy? Love Art? Well now is your chance to own one the most unique properties in the world, the former home of Italian artist, Michelangelo Buonarroti (March 6, 1475–February 18, 1564). Michelangelo’s most famous work is the painting of the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel that was commissioned by Pope Julius II between 1508-1512 but he was also a brilliant Italian Renaissance poet, architect, engineer and sculptor.

In 1549, Michelangelo purchased the property and it remained in the Buonarroti family until 1867. The estate is located in Castellina in Chianti, Tuscany. The current owner has restored the property to accurately tell the rich historical account of this property and he currently holds the original documents and deed to the home. The estate of roughly 6 acres is surrounded by Chianti vineyards and rolling hills. There are three buildings total on the property, the main house, an ancient tower that is believed to date back to the 11th century and an old oil mill that now serves as an outbuilding. The property has 8 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms total.

The Michealangelo Villa is a valued piece of Italian history and a wonderful legacy of the late Florentine artist. The home is currently for sale for €7.500.000 and showings can be arranged through contacting email. Visit our website or for more details and take a look at Forbes Magazine’s write-up of the property here.
